I was fortunate enough to celebrate Jerry's life on the anniversay of his departure by attending a Free concert featuring Sam Bush and David Grisman outdoors at the Gallivan Center in Salt Lake City. It was a wonderful, jam filled evening with two innovators of the mandolin. There were tye dyes everywhere in the crowd of several thousand and Jerry's name was evoked several times.

While I've seen Grisman many times over the last 25 years, I have only gotten to see Sam Bush 3 or 4 times(I first saw him in Boulder with New Grass Revival opening for Richie Havens in 1980) He put on a hell of a show, One of the highlights was Jammin' > Master Blaster and a very nice version of Whole Lotta Love. Grisman, of course was fantastic and flawless, a great unique musician whom I tr to never miss when he is playing near me.

Jerry would have approved..... a night of free music full of jams with one of his good friends.... I can't think of a better way to remember him.
